The Facility combines loans with EU grants to support direct SME financing in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. It seeks to improve access to finance by providing guarantee schemes and technical assistance to increase the number of viable projects carried out by SMEs.

This project was an “horizontal” project with the aim to support the DCFTA process in the Republic of Moldova by enhancing capacities in the areas of policy design. The key partner was the Ministry of Economy which is in charge of the overall coordination and monitoring of the DCFTA implementation process, including both policy implementation and institutions. However, other line Ministries and Institutions involved in the DCFTA process as well Business Associations were also within the target groups.
The overall objective is to accompany the “Support to the Implementation of the DCFTA Process in Moldova Budget Support Sector Reform Contract (BS SRC)”
The overall objective of the DCFTA SRC and its complementary support was to assist the Government of Moldova in promoting sustainable and inclusive growth, and consolidating and improving democratic and economic governance and ensure further economic development.
The project focuses on providing practical and useful information to both businesses and citizens of the Republic of Moldova about the opportunities available through the free trade agreement with the EU, how the challenges involved can be overcome and the financial and other support available from a wide range of sources.
The overall objective of the project is “to propose recommendations on the design of EU support package targeting the private sector in order to accompany the process of implementation of the AAs/DCFTAs in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, notably in relation to the compliance with the EU norms in the domestic legislation.”
