The Ungheni Bypass has been put into operation in 2018. The works included construction of new embankments including placement of geotextile membrane, the construction of new road pavement, construction of culverts, construction of drainage facilities, and construction of a new overpass over the railway line Chisinau – Ungheni, relocation of a section of existing R1 parallel to the railway line and relocation of utility lines.
The new bridge with two equal spans is 76.7 m long and 13 m wide. The bridge was built using cast-in-situ bored piles for abutments and-precast pre-stressed concrete T-beams for superstructure.
