2008 - 2014
This project, being implemented through the Neighbourhood Investment Facility (NIF) with the project administration delegated to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is the EU co-financing contribution to the second phase of the Government of Moldova Road Sector Programme Support Project.

Through the conducted road preservation and improvement measures the project has fully reached its Project Purpose ‘To halt the deterioration on the road network in Moldova and ensure key road links are maintained’. The direct effects of the improved road include the reduced business costs and increased productivity of the enterprises and businesses operational in the road vicinity. According to the preliminary calculations, vehicle operation costs for road users on the improved road portions have decreased by at least 6%. Driving comfort and traffic safety have also improved, for instance by markings illuminating at night, while the driving time both for car users and passengers has been reduced. On the request of the Local Public Authorities, the sidewalks with asphalt surface in Bilicenii Vechi village were constructed and the number of accesses to properties was enlarged, as currently there are many more houses than were shown by the original design. This has significantly increased the level of access for the village population.
